Jesus teaches his disciples that fruitfulness in the Christian life comes through abiding in him—dwelling in intimate relationship through God's word, prayer, and Christian community—rather than through human effort alone. Apart from Christ, believers can accomplish nothing; true spiritual fruit emerges only from deep, dependent connection to Jesus.
