What data we collect right now
Winnow has no user accounts, no advertising, and no third-party analytics or trackers. We don't log your IP address, and we can't identify you.
To understand how sermons and podcasts are being discovered — and to show the churches and podcasters we feature how their teaching is reaching people — we count anonymous events in aggregate: searches, page views, and clicks out to the original audio or video. These counts contain no personal information. Search terms are stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash, never the words you typed, so a search can be counted without ever being read. The only cookie is the essential Next.js routing cookie, which holds no personal information.
What we'll collect when accounts launch
When optional accounts are added, we will collect your email address (for authentication), any sermons you choose to save, and an optional denomination preference if you provide it.
Religious interests are sensitive personal data. Under GDPR and many US state privacy laws, they are treated as a special category requiring extra protection. We will never sell this data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than improving your experience on Winnow. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
Third parties
We use Supabase to store data and Vercel to serve the site. Both are standard, well-regarded infrastructure providers. We use OpenAI's API to power semantic search; search queries are sent to OpenAI to generate embeddings, but are not associated with any user identity. We have no relationship with any advertising network.
