Summary
Through 1 Samuel 16, God searches for a king with a trusting heart rather than outward appearance. The sermon explores three marks of trust in God: obedience (Samuel obeying despite fear), transparency (David's honest heart before God), and faithfulness (David serving Saul without self-promotion while awaiting his destined kingship).
Highlights
Obedience flows from trust. Trust really is like this outward expression that we believe God has what's good for us in mind.
You can't microwave godliness because godliness is prepared over time. It takes faithfulness. It's a process that God creates the character of Christ in us over a long period of time.
When you're transparent before God, you're showing that you believe that the real God can really forgive the real sin in your life and wants a relationship with you.
