Summary
Paul teaches that Christian ministry is fundamentally a gift from God's mercy, not a result of human effort. Because salvation and service flow from God's grace, believers can boldly proclaim Jesus without losing heart, trusting God's word to expose sin and draw people to Christ.
Highlights
If you don't trust in God's word to transform people's lives, you end up trusting in your own ability to be convincing. And what happens when you begin to trust in your own ability to be convincing is you end up being discouraged because you're just not that convincing.
God didn't look at you and say, wow, this person's got some real potential. I'm gonna save him. He looked at you and said, this person's got nothing. I can work with that.
God has put his treasure of the gospel in ordinary, flawed people like us. And our job is to say to people, listen, your hope is not gonna be found in my example or in me being amazing. Your hope has to be found in the same place that mine is found and that is in Jesus alone.
