Summary
Paul introduces himself as a servant of God and apostle of Jesus Christ, revealing how the gospel transforms personal identity from self-centered to God-centered. Believers exist to serve God rather than pursue personal happiness, finding true joy and fulfillment through obedience and worship rather than worldly pursuits.
Highlights
When the gospel comes into our life, it brings a new identity. You're no longer primarily Sarah the mom, or Jeff the artist, or Krista the executive leader, or Josh the pastor. Instead, at the most fundamental and root level, you become a servant of the most high God.
A God who is willing to die for you is a God that you can trust. A God who is willing to die for you is a God worthy of serving.
The joy and fulfillment that you're looking for in all the other things that we do is actually found in serving the Lord. Just like an eagle was created to fly, a dolphin was created to swim, you and I were created to serve God.
