Summary
Paul corrects three false beliefs undermining the Colossian church: legalism (Jesus plus law), mysticism (Jesus plus spiritual experiences), and asceticism (Jesus plus self-denial). The central message is that Christ alone is sufficient for salvation and spiritual growth.
Highlights
Christ is enough. You don't need Christ and the law, you don't need Christ and an experience, you don't need Christ and restricting, you just need Christ and he's enough.
Spiritual growth does not come from what you deny, but rather in whom you delight because you do not deny yourself into change. You delight yourself in Jesus until you change.
Holiness does not primarily come from you restricting sinful desires, but rather him evicting them, him kicking them out, removing them and replacing them with new desires.
