Summary
God created the cosmos ex nihilo and established himself as the ultimate author and authority. Genesis 1 reveals three foundational truths: God's authorship grants him authority over all creation, God's word generates order and life from chaos, and God created a moral universe with absolute standards. Believers find their true value and authenticity not in personal achievement but in their identity as God's intentional creation.

If God is your author, then He possesses authority in your life. The word authority comes from the root word author.
What makes you valuable is not what you do, but who made you. You are indescribably valuable because you are created by an indescribably valuable author.
You will never appreciate the good news of Jesus Christ until you first admit the bad news, that you're a sinner who needs a savior.
