Summary
Genesis 21 demonstrates God's faithfulness to intersect His promises with human problems through Sarah's miraculous pregnancy at 90, Abraham's family crisis, and Hagar's abandonment in the wilderness. The sermon argues that God cares about believers' everyday struggles—not just eternal matters—as evidenced by Christ's incarnation, the ultimate proof of divine concern for human problems.
Highlights
If you don't believe that God cares about your problems, then what good is Christianity? But if you become convinced that God does care about your problems, your actual life problems, that the omnipotent creator of the universe who holds the cosmos together actually cares about what you have going on in your life, then I'm convinced it's gonna change fundamentally how you relate to Him and how you relate to the problems that you encounter.
God is never late, He is never early. He arrives and He acts in your life and in Sarah's life precisely when He intends to.
The incarnation of Jesus Christ is a resounding declaration that God cares about your problems. Why do we know God cared about Sarah? Because He showed up. Why do we know that God cares about you and about me? Because Jesus Christ showed up.
