Summary
Luke 2:10 proclaims "Fear not" as an invitation to overcome fear by cultivating a greater fear of the Lord. When reverence and awe for God exceed fear of circumstances, people find boldness to face uncertainty, just as Mary did when confronted with her miraculous calling.
Highlights
If you wanna live without fear, you have to fight fear with fear. It's not that we're gonna live without fear at all. It's that if the fear of the Lord is stronger than the fear of the other thing, the fear of God leads you to live with boldness, confidence, and fearlessness.
When problems are big and God is small, fear will paralyze and dominate. But when God is big, well then there's nothing he can't do.
Of course he isn't safe, but he's good. He's the king, I tell you. That's the fear of the Lord. Trembling and worship, adoration and awe, an awareness of God and an awe of God.
