Sermon
Four Soils
Mercy Hill Church - Cincinnati
Speaker: Daniel Nemmers
April 14, 2024 · 36 min
Summary
Matthew 13:1-23 presents the Parable of the Sower, illustrating four types of hearts (soils) that receive God's word differently. The speaker contrasts the hard, shallow, and choked soils—which produce no fruit and represent unsaved hearts—with the good soil that hears, understands, and produces abundant spiritual fruit. Listeners are challenged to examine their hearts honestly and, if they have never truly believed, to place their faith in Jesus for the first time.
Highlights
God doesn't want a profession of faith; he wants a possession of faith. He doesn't want you to give a bunch of lip service to God. He wants a heart posture of belief in Jesus and Jesus alone.
The last thing we want to convert you to is church and not to Christ. It's possible to be converted to a movement and miss the very object of our faith, which is Jesus and Jesus alone.
Our minds must be filled with truth or they will become vacuums for lies.
