Summary
Genesis 2:18 teaches that humans were designed by God for genuine community, not isolation. Drawing on the early church's radical unity at Pentecost and Jesus's power to reconcile divided peoples, the sermon calls believers to fight loneliness through sacrificial, vulnerable love—both receiving and giving it authentically within the church family.
Highlights
What if there's actually something that has been woven into your DNA by your creator that sets off an alarm in your heart when you feel unknown, unloved, and unseen by other human beings? Because you actually were not designed for that to be your reality.
It's quite possible that you are making it impossible for them to love you genuinely because you are not giving them your genuine self to love. You're giving them a polished version of yourself to love. And they can't love the real you.
We sacrifice for each other. We do the hard thing for them, the thing that costs us. We do things for each other that we know are going to cost us because we love each other.
