Summary
Jesus teaches the Sanhedrin through the parable of the vineyard that rejecting Him as the cornerstone will bring judgment, then confronts misplaced loyalties by instructing disciples to give Caesar temporal obedience while offering God their complete allegiance and identity.
Highlights
Give to Caesar what is Caesar's. But friends, we are all created in the image of God. We bear his image. Give to God what is God's. It's you specifically. Jesus says give yourself wholly to him.
We offer full allegiance only to God. From that place of safety, the worst thing that can happen to me is death. That's it. I get eternal life after that. When I am in Christ, that is a safe place to be.
Christians are to be good citizens of whatever country they are part of. We submit as free people. We obey all kinds of laws, but we obey God rather than man when there's a conflict.
