Summary
James 5:1-12 exposes two groups: wealthy oppressors who hoard treasures and exploit workers, and suffering believers who must wait patiently for Christ's return. God sees all actions and calls believers to store treasures in heaven, not earth, and to stand firm in faith amid suffering.
Highlights
When our contentment is not in Christ, we will never have it. There will always be a bigger house, another job, a pay raise. We will never have contentment unless we are truly finding it in Christ.
We know that God works everything together for the good of those who love him. We know that he will rise victorious one day and come back and establish his kingdom. That is what we know. And so we can wait, but we don't wait without hope.
Our God is full of compassion and mercy. He is with us in the midst of every trial, working to make us more like Jesus at every step of the way. And so we stand strong in the midst of suffering. We wait on the Lord because we know that our God is worth the wait.
