Summary
Romans 12:9-13 reveals six characteristics of gospel culture: genuine love, truth-centered love, familial love, competitive honor, fervent perseverance, and sacrificial generosity. Gospel culture emerges when believers apply gospel doctrine through concrete relational practices that attract the lost and advance gospel mission.
Highlights
Love moves from hypocritical to genuine at the point of sacrifice. When a relationship costs your time or your talent or your treasures, you have an opportunity to display the genuineness of your love for the person you are in relationship with.
Until you really realize and internalize how difficult you are to love, you won't be able to love other difficult people. But when you were at your worst, Jesus loved you with his best.
The greatest obstacle to gospel culture and gospel mission is a me focused faith. Gospel culture is not here simply so that you would have friends and so that you could belong—that is an incredible benefit, but it is for more than that.
