Summary
Ephesians 2:14-18 reveals that Jesus' crucifixion demolished the historical hostility between Jews and Gentiles by abolishing the law's dividing wall, creating one new humanity reconciled to God and to each other. The church is God's unprecedented multicultural project where diverse people find their identity not in ethnicity, tradition, or status, but in Christ alone, displaying God's wisdom to the world.
Highlights
The church is the community of people who is not actually centered around their faith as though we are the ones that have faith. We're centered around the cross and resurrection of Jesus. We're centered around something God has done.
When you walk up to Jesus, the crucified Messiah, what you find is that the ground everywhere next to the cross is level. There's nobody who's standing at the foot of the cross and is a higher status than someone else.
The gospel of Jesus is not a colonizing message that consumes the cultures that it takes over, but the message of Jesus actually restores and redeems and rescues the beauty from every culture that it comes into.
