Summary
Luke 2 teaches that Christians can experience deep joy even during long seasons of waiting by holding defiant hope in God's promises (like Simeon), worshiping faithfully despite circumstances (like Anna), and not waiting alone in community.
Highlights
Christians on the other hand can actually look really sad on the outside because they bear the burdens of other people, but the thing that can never be taken away from them is a joy that Jesus provides for them.
The Christian joy is not rooted in the things of this world, but in the reality that Jesus is coming back to make all things new.
The great joy Jesus brings is not the immediate reward... but instead the great joy is the confidence that God's Messiah has come and the redemption of all things are at hand.
