Summary
Paul calls believers to crush idols by fleeing from anything that displaces God from first priority in their hearts. Drawing from Israel's wilderness rebellion, the sermon defines idolatry as any distraction from the Lord—sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and covetousness—and exhorts listeners to decisive action against these heart idols through spiritual self-awareness and repentance.
Highlights
Good things placed in the place of God will always ruin your life. Good things placed in the position where only God should be actually will ruin your life. It'll leave you empty every time.
An idol is anything that we value more than the Lord. Anything in my life that takes my eyes off of the Lord is a distraction. Anything that moves my heart's affection away from the Lord is an idol in my life.
Every time you come back to the Lord, every time, grace, mercy, forgiveness, love, hope, joy, satisfaction. Every time you run away from the Lord, pain, regret, shame, embarrassment. It's your choice today where you wanna run.
