Center Church
Speaker: Justin Leitch
October 15, 2023 · 43 min
Summary
Jesus commends the church at Ephesus for sound doctrine and good works, but rebukes them for abandoning their first love—the consuming passion for Christ that should motivate all Christian action. The sermon teaches that loving Jesus requires knowing His power and presence, maintaining right doctrine and good works, but ultimately demands a transformed heart captivated by gospel grace.
Highlights
Christianity is about the heart. It is possible to do all of the right things and believe all of the right doctrine, but to do it without a heart of love.
You cannot command love. The great commandment tells us that you need to be transformed. You need to be made new. You need to be born again.
For the sake of one another, for the sake of Charlottesville, for the sake of the name of Jesus, each of us have the responsibility to cultivate our love for Christ.
