Summary
Romans 16:17-18 calls believers to avoid divisive and destructive people within the church while maintaining forgiveness and engagement with healthy community. Moving past church hurt requires three steps: avoiding those who cause divisions, forgiving those who have wronged you, and leaning into the godly majority in the local church.
Highlights
Don't let what a few people in your church did to you keep you from what Jesus did for you.
When I have resentment and bitterness and anger in my heart towards other people, it does nothing to them, and it destroys me.
Avoidance is simply drawing a boundary with unhealthy people. Forgiveness is releasing them from the punishment of the offense done against you.
