Summary
Matthew 10:26-42 reveals Jesus's paradoxical call to discipleship: though He is the Prince of Peace who brings ultimate peace between believers and God, following Him inevitably creates conflict with the world and even loved ones because it demands undivided allegiance to Him above all else. True followers must love Jesus more than family, take up their cross, and lose their earthly self-interest to find genuine life in Him.
Highlights
The battle that Jesus is fighting is not primarily one of doctrines and beliefs, but of affections and allegiances. When you step into the kingdom of God, he changes the very core of who you are and what you love.
If you have a Jesus that can just be one little small corner of your heart, one little section of your life, then you are missing the Jesus of the Bible. It is all of Him or nothing.
The only thing that rejection and suffering could ever do is bring me closer to Jesus. You are untouchable if you are in Christ because the suffering that this world tries to give to you, the only thing it could ever do is push you back to Jesus in the cross.
