Summary
Daniel 4 reveals how God humbles proud people through conviction and suffering. Nebuchadnezzar's pride—viewing himself as the center of the universe—led God to strip away his kingdom until he recognized God's sovereignty. Humility means receiving life as a gift from God and stewarding abilities for His glory, not self-exaltation.
Highlights
Humility simply means that you receive life as a gift. You recognize that the reason you have accomplished what you've accomplished has an enormous amount to do with things that you had no control over.
The best way to grow in humility is to fix your eyes on something that is more glorious and something that is more beautiful than yourself. Because when you see Christ, the exalted king, making himself low, taking your place on the cross, you will find yourself thinking of yourself less and thinking of Christ more.
God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
