Summary
Solomon exhorts his son (and believers) to trust God completely rather than self, anchoring obedience, generosity, and submission to God's discipline as pathways to a long, peaceful, purposeful life rooted in divine wisdom.
Highlights
Trusting yourself is going to blow your whole world up in your face. But God is saying if you trust me, the one who knows you better than your own self, I know what's best for your life and I'm trying to actually free you to be who you were originally designed to be.
God's correction to his children is a sign that the Spirit of God lives in you. If you're not being convicted, if your life isn't changing, if your steps aren't being altered to the righteousness and the Word of God, then I would ask yourself, does God love you?
You weren't just a mistake your parents made on their honeymoon. You were created on purpose, for purpose. Your ultimate purpose is to glorify God with your life because he gave his life for us.
