Summary
Paul calls believers to abandon their old identity rooted in sin and embrace a completely new self in Christ. True Christian transformation occurs not through moral willpower but through dying to the old self and living out the new identity and life that Christ has given through the Spirit.
Highlights
God's way of deliverance is altogether different from man's way. Man's way is to try to suppress sin by seeking to overcome it, but God's way is to remove the sinner.
If you don't deeply know who you are, what's really true of you because of Jesus, you're not gonna be able to actually change in any meaningful way.
Every bit of life change that actually has lasting power for the Christian is not about reshaping ourselves and our habits. It's all about putting off an old identity and putting on a new one.
