Summary
Romans 8:12-17 promises that believers indwelt by God's Spirit possess eternal life—future resurrection and present joy—evidenced by their warfare against sin. The Spirit empowers this fight by reminding believers they are beloved sons and daughters of God, freeing them to battle sin from affirmation rather than fear, and sustaining them with hope of future glory.
Highlights
Salvation isn't proven by the absence of sin but by the war against it. I hate it, I want to kill it, I want to murder it before it murders me—that is proof of the life that is inside of you.
You never kill what you're not until you know who you are. The Spirit's role in your life is to remind you who you are, because the world is trying to tell you that you are something other than what God tells you.
Christians we don't suffer without hope. We suffer with hope knowing that one day every tear will be dried up, every bit of pain that we face here will cease to exist when we hit heaven.
