Summary
Romans 8:28-39 promises that God works all suffering together for the good of those who love Him—specifically, conforming believers to Christ's image rather than simply improving circumstances. Five rhetorical questions establish confidence: God's favor eliminates opposition, His sacrifice guarantees provision, His justification silences accusation, Christ's intercession answers shame, and nothing can separate believers from His love.
Highlights
God promises not to make everything instantly what you want it to be. God promises to use everything to make you what he wants you to be.
The problem in our lives most of the time is not the firmness of God's promises. The problem is the sort of spiritual amnesia we have as Christians that we forget who we are and what has already been said over us in Christ.
If you could listen in on the prayers of Jesus, he prays over you, your sense of shame would evaporate because shame can't stand in the presence of a savior who loves you, who's praying for you, who's pleading your case.
