Summary
Ruth chapter one reveals God's active providence in Naomi's bitter circumstances, introducing the themes of covenant love through Ruth's faithful devotion and God's abundant provision through Boaz. The sermon teaches that even in suffering and loss, God is sovereignly at work weaving redemption, ultimately pointing to Jesus as the ultimate provider and redeemer who never abandons His people.
Highlights
God has dealt her this hand that no one would be excited about, no one would be happy with. And her response to that is, 'My soul is bitter, and yet I'm choosing to still trust in God.'
It's only under God's wings that you'll find refuge. And that he's not asking you to take care of yourself or to just get over your bitterness or to just move on. He's asking you to bring it to him.
I wouldn't want a sovereign God to defer to all my prayers with a yes because I am not omniscient. I don't know what the weaving together of the tapestry of full redemption should look like.
