The promise is not a blank check for earthly comfort, but rather an invitation to align requests with Jesus's character and will, prioritizing glorification of God and finding ultimate satisfaction in him rather than temporal blessings.

The greatest, most enjoyable, most life-giving thing that you could ask for from God is the life that he offers, the satisfaction he brings, the joy that he brings.
