Summary
Zechariah's prophecy in Luke 1:68–75 reveals three reasons for biblical hope: God hears prayers despite doubt, keeps his word through centuries of fulfilled promises, and has revealed the story's ending through Scripture. Hope is not wishful thinking but confident trust in God's unchanging character and covenant promises.
Highlights
What hope is, is not just a wish or optimism. What it is is we are looking at the word and the promises and the character of an unchanging God. And we are placing our hope in that, that we know who God is and that he says—what he says he is going to fulfill.
We can have hope in God because he hears our prayers in spite of our doubt.
We can have hope in God because he keeps his word.
