Summary
Luke 2:8-20 reveals that biblical joy stems from three foundations: recognizing God's glory and our need for a Savior, believing in Christ as that Savior, and understanding God's deep love for us. This joy produces praise, a desire to seek the Lord, eagerness to share the gospel, and worship—a sustainable joy accessible to all believers regardless of circumstances.
Highlights
If we reduce God to something small enough that we can put him in our pocket, bring him out, listen to him whenever we want, something we don't revere, something we don't respect, something that we don't fear or worship, guys, if we reduce him to that, we will never believe him when he tells us truth that we can cling to.
We don't need to be afraid because God provided us a Savior that will ultimately take on that wrath for us. So how do we tap into the joy? Believe that truth. It's the most important thing you could do in your entire life. This is the secret ingredient of biblical joy that you can cling to.
This kind of deep joy doesn't always look like us smiling and being happy. And that's okay. We're in a broken world. Let's go through hard times. There are hardships we're going to endure, but yet we can still have joy because of what Christ did for us.
