Summary
Exodus 11 forecasts the tenth plague—death of the firstborn throughout Egypt—revealing God's distinction between judgment on Egypt and deliverance for Israel. The passage presents a paradox: devastating judgment coupled with hope for Israel's liberation after 430 years of slavery, paralleling Palm Sunday's anticipation of Jesus as deliverer from sin and death.
Highlights
Israel has the anticipation of hope that God is about to finally change their trajectory. The history of the nation would never be the same, and while this passage is sad, while this passage is tough to read, it also provides a pathway to hope for an entire nation of people.
When we put our faith in Christ, we experience an exodus of the soul. We're set free from our own bondage to sin. We're not under a death sentence any longer, but one of abundant life.
The Lord's Supper is God's invitation for you to come home, to come back.
