Summary
Mark's prologue (1:1–13) introduces Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah and Son of God through prophecy, baptism, and temptation, establishing His divine nature and humanity as the foundation for the gospel of salvation.
Highlights
Any purpose in our lives that separates us from what Jesus calls us to do is simply too small of a purpose and may even lead us away from Him into darkness.
Jesus doesn't allow us less than that. All other things are subservient to Him that we would trust Him above all things. We would love Him above all things. We would obey Him more than anyone or anything else.
The gospel is breathtaking truth and we are broken beyond what we dare to consider, but we are loved beyond what we dare to hope.
