Summary
Hebrews 7 establishes Jesus as the superior high priest according to the order of Melchizedek, not Aaron. Unlike the temporary Levitical priesthood, Jesus offers an assured, permanent, completely fulfilled, and perfect covenant that invites believers to draw near directly to God.
Highlights
If our standing before God was entirely dependent upon the absolutely perfect competency and unwavering faithfulness of another human being, my goodness, that would be nerve-racking and not good.
What God declares to be so will be so, and nothing in hell or on earth can stop it. No amount of money could bribe him. No military arsenal could defeat him. No spiritual force could overcome him.
Access that is not dependent upon our ability to obey perfectly, but upon the obedience of Jesus, which is perfect.
