Summary
Luke 15 presents two lost sons—one who rebels openly, one who rebels covertly—both needing to come home through radical grace. Jesus reveals the Father's extravagant love: not conditional on performance, but freely bestowing robes, rings, and celebration. True homecoming requires receiving complete forgiveness as a beloved son, not earning servanthood.
Highlights
There is no path home where we partially work our way back as a hired servant. There is only the way of forgiveness and complete sonship.
Sin is not just the breaking of rules, it's putting yourself in place of God as savior, Lord, and judge.
If there is a God and his heart is like that for us, then to be embraced by him like this would be the healing of all of our wounds and the drying of all of our tears.
