Summary
Paul's ministry in Philippi (Acts 16) demonstrates how the gospel reaches three types of people in secular settings: the spiritually interested (Lydia), the economically and spiritually oppressed (the demon-possessed slave girl), and cynical skeptics (the jailer). Believers are called to join God's work by identifying these groups and engaging them through evangelism, service to the broken, and joyful perseverance through suffering.
Highlights
When you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, it means you transfer the weight of your body onto those facts—you're either trusting in his authority and following it, or you're trusting in your own authority.
Maybe your pain is God's answer to your prayer to impact somebody else for the gospel. God isn't answering your prayer to use you, he's just putting you on display through suffering.
The gospel is for everybody. There is no type. If you will believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, then you will be saved, for there is no difference between the Jew or the Greek, the rich or the poor, the religious or the irreligious.
