Sermon
Together We Build: Priscilla and Aquila
Cross Church
Speaker: Nick Floyd
October 4, 2022 · 37 min
Summary
Through the example of Priscilla and Aquila mentoring Apollos, the sermon teaches that spiritual maturity is marked by grace—moving toward those who struggle rather than away from them, using private instruction over public confrontation, and recognizing that God may call you to help build others into their full potential in the church.
Highlights
If you wanna build people, move in when others move out. If somebody doesn't have it all together, if they're not 100% correct, then people walk out. Cancel culture is anti-Christian. If there's anybody in the world who steps in with grace, who steps in with forgiveness, it should be the people of God.
Spiritual maturity is marked by grace. Graceful people are drawn to people who don't have it all together. Spiritual immaturity is marked by a judgmental spirit. Disciples of Jesus Christ are drawn to people who don't have it together.
Behind every believer who's making a difference for the kingdom of God is someone else who helped them get there. If there's somebody in your life that maybe you're even frustrated by, that's who you're supposed to build.
