Summary
Luke 8:40–56 presents Jesus encountering two people waiting in desperation: Jairus, whose daughter is dying, and a woman with a chronic bleeding condition. The sermon explores how Jesus meets us in our powerlessness, transforms shame into belonging, and invites us to trust him even when his timeline confuses us.
Highlights
Waiting is what happens in the gap between what we desperately want and what we cannot control. Waiting is what happens when we've done everything that we can, and yet all that's left is not knowing what we'll be. This is why we hate waiting so much, because waiting is weakness.
There is no place in the universe that is safer for a sinner or a sufferer to be than exposed at the feet of Jesus.
Hold tighter to your hope in him than in the things you hope he will do for you.
