Summary
Matthew 1:18–25 reveals five dimensions of Christmas: Jesus' supernatural birth, God's initiative toward humanity, the call for young men to step up, humanity's need for a Savior, and the necessity of personal response. The incarnation demonstrates God's sacrificial love and invitation to salvation.
Highlights
You are so bad that the only way that you could be saved was for God the Son to take on flesh and die for you. You are so valuable to God, even in your brokenness, even in your sin, that Jesus Christ was willing to suffer for you.
If biologically you are a man, if 2,000 years ago, you would have been expected to go out and hunt something, bring it back, and then marry someone, then it's time to put the video games down. You can play them sometimes. Don't play them till 4 in the morning. Go get a job.
You cannot hear this story and understand what it means and say, that's nice. This is a startling, challenging, confronting, wonderful message.
