Summary
Paul teaches that spiritual growth requires active effort and intentional pursuit toward Christ, not passive drift. Though salvation is earned by Christ alone, believers must press forward with discipline, humility, and community support, remembering they belong to heaven, not the world.
Highlights
Earning says, if I do this, then God will love me more. But effort says, because God loves me, I want to become more like Christ.
You don't drift into spiritual growth, you run toward it.
This will not make your life easier, but it will make your life better.
