Summary
Isaiah 9:1-6 promises that God rewrites broken stories through Jesus Christ. The passage contrasts darkness and light, oppression and freedom, showing how Jesus—fully God and fully human—entered our darkness to overcome it and restore hope, both in the ancient Israelites' experience and in believers' lives today.
Highlights
God intends to rewrite the story of his people. And that's actually the very first promise of Christmas, is that the reason God sent his son is to rewrite your story.
The parts of your story that you want to blot out, God wants to rewrite with Christ. The parts of your story that you wanna blot out, that you wish never happened are the very parts that God intends to enter into and rewrite with Jesus.
Jesus himself comes into your story and into your life, and as the light of the world says, 'Follow me,' you are not finding the light, you are following the light of the world.
