Summary
Through 1 Peter 3:8-22, Christians are called to be a unified, counter-cultural community that responds to evil with good rather than retaliation. By practicing sympathy, brotherly love, humility, and blessing those who harm them, believers demonstrate Christ's character and experience His blessing, ultimately trusting in Christ's suffering, victory, and future vindication.
Highlights
A building facilitates ministry. A building facilitates deep discipleship and wide mission. But here's why this building matters—because it's the culmination of a lot of prayer, a lot of service, a lot of investment, and a lot of sacrifice.
Humble people are hard to offend. Proud people are hard not to offend. Humble people are hard to offend because they have a low view of themselves. The degree of your humility is demonstrated in how easily you feel snubbed, overlooked, or offended.
Our world is in one long cycle of contempt. You did this to me, I'm gonna do this to you. Peter calls us to break the cycle of contempt with good.
