Summary
Paul's letter to the Ephesians calls husbands and wives to sacrificial, Christ-centered love within their distinct roles. Wives are called to support their husbands' leadership through respect and encouragement; husbands are called to love their wives sacrificially, leading them toward holiness and oneness—a partnership founded on submission to the Holy Spirit and mutual prioritization rather than self-interest.
Highlights
It's easier to fall in love but it's tough to stay in love, and the model of love that Christians are meant to have for one another is not found in a magazine or website—it's the way that Christ has loved us.
Love has to be a verb, not a noun. When you begin to love one another, the feeling will begin to come back again, because many of you think you're with the wrong person when really you're using love as a noun instead of a verb.
A happy marriage is the union of two good forgivers. There is no perfect marriage, no perfect spouse—they are just as messed up as you are and need as much grace and mercy as you do.
