Summary
Colossians 1:15–20 reveals three glorious realities about Jesus: His sovereign power to sustain all creation, His promise of reconciliation through blood with no performance-based conditions, and His deserved first place in believers' lives. The sermon invites listeners to experience God's glory by dethroning idols and living under Christ's authority.
Highlights
We do not have uninformed or blind faith. God revealed himself in a book, but he didn't just reveal himself in a book—the Bible—he revealed himself in a body, and his Son Jesus.
The promise of Jesus for your salvation through his blood has no buyout clause—not based on your performance at all. If your goodness could not buy your way into salvation, then your badness cannot buy your way out of it.
When Jesus is first, that's where you'll find freedom. Christians become the person they never wanted to become because they only care about themselves—but the glory of God changes that.
