Summary
Peter teaches that godliness—living as a heavenly citizen aware of Christ's imminent return—is the fuel for spiritual endurance. Believers must live with urgency to advance God's kingdom, remember they are not home on earth, and examine whether they truly love Jesus, since genuine godliness flows from loving Him above all else.
Highlights
If you are here, you are here for a purpose. And if Jesus has not yet returned, then that means that there are still people who are waiting to be saved.
Jesus died and rose from the dead, not only to forgive us of our sins, but to give us a new citizenship, a new identity.
The only way that the return of Jesus leads to godliness, it's entirely dependent on whether that day would be the best day of your life or the worst day of your life. Which is entirely dependent upon whether or not you love Jesus.
