Summary
God's covenant-keeping character is demonstrated through the flood narrative and extended through Jesus Christ. Though humanity deserved judgment for its sin, God sustained a remnant through his promise and later established an everlasting covenant with Noah, sealed by the rainbow. Jesus Christ is God's ultimate covenant sign—the true and better rainbow—who absorbed God's wrath on behalf of believers, ensuring they are eternally remembered and loved.
Highlights
God is a covenant keeping God. He's saying this: I obligate myself to act a certain way towards you, to fulfill something on your behalf because of my covenantal love for you, and I do this voluntarily without reservation and knowing that I can never go back.
The Christian life is not one where we look at those things that have or haven't happened to us in our life and ask the question, does God remember me? The Christian life is one where we look at Jesus Christ and then we ask the question, does God remember me?
When Satan comes and he tries to tell you God doesn't remember you, you can look at the cross and say, Satan, be gone because I am utterly remembered.
