Summary
Genesis teaches that work is divinely designed for human flourishing and reflects God's image-bearing nature. Though sin has cursed work with difficulty, futility, and mortality, Christ's resurrection promises that all meaningful labor will be redeemed and preserved eternally in the new creation.
Highlights
Work is not something that we do or we have to do because we're no longer in the garden. It's not like a necessary evil that's now in our world, but work is something that we do because we're made in the image of God.
If God is willing to get his hands dirty in this world and serve it and make it better, we should not view our work as beneath us.
Your work really matters. Whether you're involved in making coffee for people so their day is a little more enjoyable, or you're someone who goes into really dirty spaces and cleans them up and makes them better, that is an incredibly spiritual kingdom-building thing to do.
