Summary
Solomon's Song of Solomon 4 reveals God's vision for sexuality as rooted in biology, covenantal commitment, and divine blessing. The sermon contrasts biblical sexuality—integrated, relational, and reserved for marriage—with the world's fragmented, consumption-based approach, calling listeners to elevate their understanding of sex as a gift from God.
Highlights
Sex is God's idea. He could have made reproduction work another way, but He created this wonderful, enjoyable, complex, deep, emotional, spiritual experience between a husband and wife within marriage.
If you pursue negative freedom to its end, you end up isolated and enslaved to your impulses. Part of what it means to embrace God's vision of sexuality is to embrace God's vision of freedom—reserving sex for covenant is not a restriction, it's a blessing.
Jesus doesn't just want your broken, mutilated flower. He wants to make you new. That's the power of the gospel—Jesus can come into your life and make you new all the way down to your sexual history.
