Summary
Romans 12:9-18 teaches Christians to honor one another by competing to outdo each other in showing honor, not based on people's worthiness but on God's image in them. The sermon contrasts cultural rating systems with Christian honor through three practices: posture (leaning forward to honor), practical actions (sharing, hospitality, guarding speech), and perseverance in honoring even those who hurt us, all rooted in how Jesus first honored us.
Highlights
We don't honor people based on their valuation. We honor people based on the image of God that they have inside of them.
If you don't learn how to honor people, if you don't spend the rest of your life learning how to honor people better, you will destroy all the relationships that God has given you to build and you will dishonor the God that you claim to know.
You were not honored because you deserved it. You deserved nothing, but Jesus would honor you because he's honorable, because of who he is.
