Summary
Paul's sermon in Athens demonstrates how God sovereignly places believers where they are to participate in his redemptive mission, even though he doesn't need them. The sermon teaches that while God is entirely self-sufficient and doesn't require human help, he graciously invites people to share in the joy of spreading the gospel.
Highlights
God does not need you, but he chooses to use you. And that is fantastic news.
God will fulfill his purpose in the world and he does not need you for it to succeed. On the flip side of that coin, while he could have bypassed us completely in achieving his purpose for the world, he chooses to invite us into his story of redemption.
He has factored in your stupidity. He knows your failures and your shortcomings. They weren't a surprise to him. In fact, your failures and your shortcomings are actually where God shows his power most.
