Summary
Jesus teaches the parable of the vineyard workers (Matthew 20:1-16) to reveal that God's kingdom operates on radical generosity rather than fairness. Workers hired at different hours receive equal pay, demonstrating that God rewards obedience and faith, not merit, and welcomes people regardless of when they turn to Him.
Highlights
God is not fair. He is generous. He does not reward based on works. He rewards based on obedience.
If you pull the fair card, nobody gets hired to work in the vineyard. Which means nobody gets anything. That's fair. And I'm telling you today, God is not fair. And I'm glad God is not fair because he is something far greater than fair.
It is not too late to follow Jesus. No matter how old you are or how young you are, no matter how good you've been or how bad you've been, if you are ready, then I invite you to reach out and take the hand of Jesus.
