Summary
Paul teaches that godliness combined with contentment—not the pursuit of wealth—constitutes true gain. By examining 1 Timothy 6, the pastor explains that contentment is fundamentally a heart issue, not a financial one, and calls believers to flee greed while pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness.
Highlights
God doesn't want something from you. He wants something for you. He knows that you'll be the best person that you can be when you're living in a mindset of contentment in all areas of your life.
Money makes people more of what they already are. A guy who's a jerk will become a bigger jerk when he has more money. If someone is giving and charitable, they'll be more so as they get more money.
The lie is I'll be more generous when I have money. The truth is, apart from Jesus changing you in this area, you'll be whatever you are right now.
